How to get to Georgia
It is possible to travel to Georgia by an air, automobile or railway. For people who are planning to travel around Europe and Asia, Georgia is an ideal place to start from, considering the historical Silk Road and a unique geographic location.
Flight to Georgia from various countries of Europe take three to five hours.
There are three operating inhttp://travelpoint.ge/engine/skins/bbcodes/images/b.gifternational airports in Georgia-Tbilisi (TBS), Batumi (BUS), which is located in Adjara Region Republic on the seaside, and Kopitnari (KUT), which is located near Kutaisi in Western Georgia, the former capital of ancient Colchis Kingdom.
Very soon they will be joined by a new airport in Poti.

Georgia’s International Airport of Tbilisi is 18 km (11 miles) from the city center. It serves many different airlines. There are direct flights to Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, France, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Unites Arab Emirates, Israel, Belarus, Poland, Lithuania and Czech Republic.

The Batumi Airport has flights to Turkey, Belarus and Ukraine. The flights from Batumi to Turkey and vice versa, are affordable for everyone.
There are taxis and buses at the airport to take you into the city proper.
CITY BUS
Regular buses stop at the bus station in front of the arrival hall, Municipality Bus # 37 serves the route-Airport-Tbilisi city. The bus is available between 07:00 AM and 09:30 PM every day.
• One way fee is 0.50 GEL
AIRPORT TAXI
Taxi service at Tbilisi International Airport is available outside the terminal, just at the curbside of the Arrival Hall and provides 24 hour service to the passengers.
The Journey time to the city center takes 20-30 minutes dependent on traffic.

CAR RENTAL
Car rental service is provided by AVIS, whose office is located in the arrival hall of the ground floor. AVIS met & assists passengers with attention and treats them as special guests.

AIRPORT TRAIN
The Airport railway station is the cheapest and easiest means of transportation as it connects Tbilisi central railway station with the airport. It is located 70 meters from the airport building. The new station is of a modern architectural style. It has a semi-circular design decorated with golden windows. On its façade there is a laser clock. Comfortable trains made in Georgia run on the railway lines. Each of them has a capacity of 100 passengers. With the new train station passengers can now get to the airport in 20 minutes.

BY SEA
You can get to Georgia via the Black sea and land up at any of major port cities of Batumi, Poti and Sokhumi. Because of the troubles in the breakaway Abkhazia region, Sokhumi is somewhat inaccessible, but Batumi and Poti are very well connected by ferry to the port cities of llyichevsk in the Odessa province (Ukraine), Trabzon/Istanbul (Turkey), Burgas, Varna (Bulgaria), and Sochi, Novorossiysk (Russia).

BY TRAIN
Traveling to Georgia by railway is possible from Azerbaijan and Armenia. Trains arrive at the Tbilisi Railway Central Station, around Vagzali Square.
The Rail connection from Russia to Georgia through Abkhazia currently is not available.
• Trains from Baku to Georgia cost around 40-50 USD

BY ROAD
There are highways into Georgia from Russia Federation, Greece, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey. There are bus services to Georgia from all 5 of those countries several times a day, every day. Other routes across the Georgian-Abkhaz border or from Tskhinvali by Roki tunnel is currently restricted due to existing conflict situation.
Travelers can enter Georgia at the following entrance points:
Greece-Georgia
Several busses per week leave Greece for Georgia. The schedule and prices vary at the Greek bus stations.
Turkey –Georgia
Sarpi (West Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 400 km, to Batumi 15 km.
Vale (South West Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 300km, to Akhaltsikhe 30 km
Turkey provides bus trips to Georgia every day. A bus trip from Istanbul to Georgia takes up to 34 hours and from Trabzon up to 12 hours.
Armenia-Georgia
Sadakhlo/Bagratashen (South –East Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 90 km.
Bavra (South Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 330 km, to Akhalkalaki 40 km.
A bus usually takes 4-6 hours to travel from Armenia to Georgia. (Buses leave for Georgia from Yerevan, Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Gyumri, Artik and Spitak)
Azerbaijan –Georgia
Lagodekhi (East Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 170 km, to Telavi 50 km.
Red Bridge (South-East Georgia). Distance to Tbilisi 70 km.
Several buses leave Baku, Azerbaijan from 7:30 to 15:00 every day and take 8-10 hours to arrive in Georgia.
Russia –Georgia
Checkpoints (Georgian Military Highway). Distance to Tbilisi 160 km.
Not advisable to pass this road from November to March due to possible climate hazards.
The Tbilisi International Bus Station is located in Ortachala district.
Getting Around
BY AIR
Several airlines provide flights by airplanes and helicopters on the territory of Georgia. There are regular flights from Tbilisi to Batumi and Mestia.
BY RAIL
Trains are cheaper than other types of transportation in Georgia. Also, the trips are more enjoyable because one can explore the countryside while travelling by train. The trains usually leave in the direction of western Georgia. Train tickets can be purchased 40 days prior to departure at train station cash desks and 15 days prior to departure online, as well as by “Instant pay machines.” Children under 5 travel free, while kids between 5 and 9 years travel on a half-ticket.
While buying a train tickets, one must present an ID card. Trains leave the Tbilisi Central Station for every local and several international destinations each day.
While traveling by train it is possible to purchase bed sheets.

BY ROAD
Georgia is a small county, which makes travelling by public transport very simple. Travelling from Tbilisi to any destination in Georgia is possible by public transport every day. Busses leave from the Didube Station every hour; however there are also unscheduled busses. There are also mini busses leaving for the Kakheti Region from the Isani Station. Ortachala Station mainly serves international arrivals and departures.
Bus schedules change very often. The cost of tickets depends on the length of the way
